I. Main Properties of Insulating Materials

The main function of insulating materials is to isolate the current between conductors with different potentials or between conductors and ground, so that the current flows only along conductors.

Types of insulating materials

1. Inorganic insulation materials, such as mica, asbestos, ceramics, etc., are mainly used for winding insulation of motors and electrical appliances, switch boards, skeletons and insulators.

2. Organic insulating materials, such as resins, rubber, silk cotton, paper and hemp, are mainly used in the manufacture of electronic components and in the manufacture of load insulating materials.

3. Composite insulating material is made of the above two kinds of insulating materials after processing into various shaped insulating materials, mainly used as the base, bracket and shell of electrical appliances.

Types of Insulating Materials

The products of insulation materials are classified according to the uniform naming principle stipulated in JB2177-77 and the models are compiled.

This standard is applicable to the classification, naming and unified production of electrical insulating materials. Electrical insulating material products are divided into four categories: big category, small category, variety and specification.

1. The major and minor categories of electrical insulating materials are 10 numbers from 0 to 9, among which the number of vacancies will be used for the future increase of product types and the emergence of new materials.

2. The basic unit of electrical insulating material is variety. The main components and basic technology of the same product are the same.

3. Electrical insulating material products can be divided into specifications according to different sizes (thickness, diameter, length, width, etc.).
